One of the restrictions that everyone places on solar and many other forms of power is that it only provides electricity or in the case of solar, heat and electricity while much of our usage requires more transportable energy stores. Do a paper on how energy can be used to separate CO from CO2 and H2 from H2O and how the mixture of CO and H2 can form hydrocarbons in the Fischer Tropsch reaction which is actually how we dilute our high sulfur diesel to meet federal ultra low sulfur diesel requirements ( Shell's GTL ). The Sandia Labs CR5 reactor is an example of using sunlight to produce hydrocarbon fuels. This doesn't just apply to solar but to nuclear, wind and hydro. We aren't really hampered by a lack of electric vehicles in switching to these energy sources.

we all know that every energy is triggered by sun.....Solar energy refers primarily to the use of solar radiation for practical ends. However, all renewable energies, other than geothermal and tidal, derive their energy from the sun.

Solar technologies are broadly characterized as either passive or active depending on the way they capture, convert and distribute sunlight. Active solar techniques use photovoltaic panels, pumps, and fans to convert sunlight into useful outputs
