Hello, I'm a climate scientist and I'm not from Brixton, like the other climate scientist. Please remove the filter (25mm) from your bottle and you should be able to help yourself. It is not normal.

You know, twenty years ago, Brita had a water bottle with a filter in it marketed as a sport bottle. It was a complete flop in North America though it continued on in places like Australia and they've just reintroduced a version to compete with the Bobble. The fact is, these devices are totally useless, the filter soon builds up a layer of bacteria and the whole thing just stinks, the water doesn't flow freely through the filter and if you squeeze the bottle or suck on the spout, you pull grains of carbon out of the filter into the water. You are much better off just filtering your water before you put it into a drink bottle, a good wide mouth water bottle is best so you can reach in with a brush to clean it out periodically.
